Have you made a promise to yourself to be healthier?  Maybe you’ve started going to the gym, running, or eating healthier. Have you ever considered changing your drinking habits? We’re not talking about beers.

We have rounded up our top six healthy beverages (with evidence backed by experts) to accompany you on the journey to an improved lifestyle:

Water…with a twist!

Water is the most common drink you could possibly choose and the healthiest practice alongside eating salads and exercising. It’s experts’ opinion that we should consume two liters of water a day. However, the plain taste can swiftly become rather dull and flavorless. To help you drink as much water without getting bored, try adding crushed fruits at the bottom of your glass. Slices of lemon are the most preferred choice, but strawberries, grapes, and oranges all add natural sweetness, making that water more inviting.

Low fat milk

Milk has a number of benefits and is most commonly known as being the richest source of calcium; a mineral essential for healthy bones and teeth. Milk is an all-rounder for improving your diet, packed with magnesium, potassium, and protein – all of which can help reduce high blood pressure and even reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Vegetable juice

If you are struggling to eat your recommended five a day, try blending your vegetables together to make vegetable juice. By adding lemon juice and vinegar, it will sweeten the taste and create a surprisingly pleasant drink. There are so many combinations and flavors to experiment with. One of the most popular recipes include carrots, cucumber, and celery.

Pomegranate Juice

Pomegranates are among the healthiest fruits in the world and they have a number of good benefits for your body. Recent studies have shown that pomegranate is effective against heart disease, high blood pressure, and inflammation, as well as many other diseases. By blending the fruit, you will release the maximum number of antioxidants and create a juice packed with flavour that will quench your thirst and benefit your health in countless ways.

Green Tea

If you are a fan of warm beverages and not quite ready to give up your morning coffee, try green tea as an alternative. It has less caffeine than coffee but has enough to give you that boost when you need it. Green tea is packed with the most powerful antioxidants, and has been proved to improve brain function and support weight loss.

Coconut Water

Lastly, but most certainly not least, coconut water; a liquid bursting with numerous health benefits. From clear skin to an aid for weight loss, it can even act as a remedy for indigestion. Coconut water is one of the best forms of hydration, especially after rigorous exercise.

So if you’re stuck on less than healthy drinks, try something different and see what a difference this taste test could make for your health.
